CORE VALUES

Communication

As someone who wants to become a front–end developer, communicating with your client is one of the most important tasks you must do to create a good quality product. During this semester one of my goals is to improve my communication skills. Snipped of questions I send to Owen Bryce to understand his wants and needs in a clearer way.

Curiosity

Front–end landscape is quickly evolving so staying up to date with the latest trends and being curious is an important value to a front-end developer. For this semester my goal is to get better at new things like photoshop, illustrator (Design visual works), JavaScript and possibly 3D modeling. Besides that I want to learn Bootstrap CSS.

Dedication

During this semester I want to learn as much as possible and not miss the most important lectures.

Empathy

As I progress through this semester, I realized that I must be in my users’ shoes and with every design choice I have to keep my users in mind and fit their needs. Every functionality that I implement I must look at it through target audiences’ perspective and decide if it’s a good idea to implement it or not.

CORE VALUES

Detail - Oriented

Wanting to become a front-end developer means I have to make designs with small details that users might not notice at first but can make a big difference in design and how to end product looks. Those small details can be seen in my portfolio, for example, the tickets, the banner image and sun in the header.

Teamwork

Working as a web developer means working in a team setting which means communicating with your teammates and helping each other out plays a big role on the quality of the end product.

Career goal

My goal is to become a front-end developer and work in groups where I can use my problem-solving skills to create user-friendly and interactive interfaces. I want to be part of a team that values communication, curiosity and where I can continue to learn and grow. Thats why I chose front-end development for the next semester and also why I chose development for the Project X.

INITIATIVE FOR FEEDBACK

Taking the initiative in asking for, and reflecting on, feedback: During this semester I have been seeking feedback from my teachers to improve my work. I see feedback as a part of process to become front-end developer and I am always open to constructive criticism to see how I can improve my work.

Reflection

What did I learn: I learned that feedback is an important part of the design process since it helps you see your work from a different perspective and helps you improve your work. I also learned about different things like clip-art and UX and UI principles which I wouldn't have known about if I didn't ask for feedback. It also helps me reach my goals in a faster, easier way and become better front-end developer.

Improvements: I could take more initiative in asking for feedback and asking for clarification if I don't understand something. I will try to ask for more feedback during the Project X and try to apply it to my work.

Conclusion: I learned the imprtance of feedback and how it can help me improve my work. I will continue to seek feedback from my teachers and classmates to improve my work and become a better developer.

CORE VALUES

Career goal: During Wouters lesson we got cameras and went outside to take photos and learn about how cameras work, angles and how to take good photos.

Reflection

What did I learn: I learned that doing photography in not something I want to spend my time working on and do in the future. Even though I learned some things about cameras during the lesson, I realized im not that passionate about it. Apart from that I learned about shutter speed, aperture and ISO which are key aspects of taking good photos. This was a valueble lesson for me since I learned that I don't want to pursue photography as a career and instead I want to focus on front-end development.

Improvements: If I had known how to use a camera I would have enjoyed the lesson more and and would have been able to take better photos. I asked Wouter some questions about the camera and what certain setting do, but some things I still find confusing.

Conclusion: Even though I learned some stuff about photography, I realized that I don't want to pursue it as a future career and instead I want to focus on front-end development.
